Graduation, Corporate, and Personalized Gifts
Welcome
to BeehiveGifts.com! This Web site is dedicated to providing information
about gifts and gift ideas.
There are many reasons why gifts are given. One may be presented to
show love or friendship. Others may simply be given out of kindness.
In different cultures, there are various situations where providing
a gift is either appropriate or even required. Of course, under most
circumstances, even customary gift giving occasions are still done with
love or appreciation.
Here are some examples of such occasions:
•Births and Birthdays – Even before a child is born, it
is common in Western culture for a baby shower to take place. Some birthday
gifts may be focused on the time of year when a person was born. For
instance, a particular birthstone is associated with each of the twelve
months. Birthday gifts may also reflect the age which a person is turning.
A present may reflect the fact that the recipient is old enough to do
a certain activity legally, such as driving or joining a particular
club. In this example, someone may purchase a license, permit, or other
item related to such an activity.
•Weddings and Anniversaries – Couples are often given many
grand things on the day that they are married. Before the wedding day,
a bride may receive many things for herself as well as for her husband
during the bridal shower. In the years following the marriage, anniversary
gifts are commonly given between spouses.
•Holidays – Some holidays may include general gift-giving
for everyone, such as Christmas or Hanukah. Other holidays are focused
on giving gifts to certain people. For instance, Valentine’s Day
is dedicated to the expression of love to a romantic partner. On the
other hand, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are designed to
show appreciation for the respective parents for which each day is named.
•Graduation – Graduation gifts are given at many age levels.
Generally, high school and university graduation events are among the
most celebrated. Graduation presents may also be given for accomplishments
related to progress made within religious or other organizations.
•Business achievements – A corporate gift may be given
to an employee to show recognition. Items may also be given to new business
partners to express good future hopes for the partnership.
•Funerals – Flowers are commonly given to express sympathy
in these situations. Individuals may also help out relatives by providing
food or money to aid with the expense of such a service.
•Departures – These are often called “going away”
gifts. A person may be given things which will aid in traveling to or
living in a new area. They also may simply serve as something by which
to remember the giver.
•When staying with someone – In many cultures, it is appropriate
for a guest to give a host a present. This is to show gratitude for
the hospitality. In most areas of the United States, this isn’t
taken as seriously as it is by other cultures. It is wise for a guest
to double check the traditions of an area if he or she may run into
such a situation.
Other occasions for gift-giving include when a person becomes very
ill or as an apology. There are different sections of this Web site
dedicated to discussing gift ideas for some of these occasions in more
detail. These include graduation gifts, corporate gifts, and wedding
gifts.
